I was supposed to fly with all you guys to NZCH, but real life events prevented me.

My father is 82 and has a history of heart problems. He had chest pains and tremors on Friday night and had to be hospitalized right away.
They're keeping him under close watch in the ICU. He's lucid and comfortable as can be under the circumstances. Let's hope for the best.
Hope you had fun in the fly-in.

Hi Eytan

The fly in was good but more importantly how is your Father, any update?? I think you will find that ALL pilots will be praying for his speedy recovery.

Regards
Westy

Westy,
Thank you for showing concern.
My father is still in the coronary icu. They're doing all kinds of tests on him to determine the extent of the damage to his heart after Friday's attack.
He's complaining more about the fact that he's totally immobilized in bed, under strict orders not to get out of bed for anything. He's on oxygen all the time.

My mom helps him during the day, and I drop in the evening to visit and take her home.

My sister and I were supposed to organize a 60th wedding anniversary party for my parents with a family get together in early July, but that's being shelved.

I"ll keep you posted on any progress. Let's hope for the best,
Eytan

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know my father left the coronary icu today, where he was in post op status to the regular heart ward.

He had a six hour operation four days ago, when the doctors realized he was in grave danger. They performed bypass surgery and fixed two artificial valves which were 12 years old and were not functioning properly.

The days after the operation were very hard for him, but gradually he came round.

Now he's more aware of his surroundings, recognizes family members and tries to talk but that's hard for him as he's so tired from the post op.

He's eating solid food and has a lot less tubes attached.
My mother who's been worried sick, is much more positive now, seeing him improve day by day.

Let's pray for a good recuperation.

Eytan

Just to sum up my dad's condition.
It's good news; he was in a convalescent home for a 10 days doing physiotherapy.
Every time I dropped in I would see a definite improvement.
Yesterday I dropped in and was amazed to see him walking, unassisted, along the corridor with my mom beside him.
I know my dad is on the mend as he's regained his scathing sense of humour!
Next week he will return home and hopefully we'll all put the episode behind us.
